How we protect our planet and learn to live in it responsibly has never been more critical.

NERC is the leading funder for environmental science in the UK and the key to our success is providing independent advice and challenge. The Future Leaders’ Council (FLC) is being created as a new body which will broaden the talent pool in our advisory structure while at the same time allowing our leaders of the future to gain valuable committee member experience.

The Future Leaders’ Council (FLC) will advise NERC and the NERC Executive team on cutting edge research that delivers innovation, growth and responsible environmental management.
Our long term goal is to ensure that NERC becomes more representative of the communities it serves and provides constructive challenge from a wider range of perspectives.

We welcome people with unconventional career journeys to join us and those from underrepresented groups in the environmental science sector (or from other related disciplines to ensure a balance of different experiences, contributions and perspective).
